We treat your data the way we would like ours to be treated — with amānah. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
We collect the minimum information needed to run a reading community. We do not sell personal data. We do not run third-party advertising. We do not track you across the web.
When you create an account we store your email address, a username you choose, and — optionally — a display name and avatar. As you use the app we record the books you save, the lists you follow, your reviews, your reading-challenge progress, and the book clubs you join. Log data such as IP address and browser type is retained only for security and abuse prevention.
We use your data to authenticate you, personalize your library, synchronize progress across devices, show you relevant clubs and challenges, and keep the community safe. We never use your reading history to target advertising.
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your language and theme preference. We do not use marketing or cross-site tracking cookies.
Authentication and database hosting is provided by Supabase. Static assets are served through a CDN. These providers process data only on our behalf and under contractual confidentiality.
You can request a copy of your data, correct inaccurate information, or delete your account at any time from your profile settings. For regulated regions (EU, UK, California), you also have the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your local authority.
Al-Maktaba is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children; if you believe we have, please contact us so we can remove it.
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be announced in-app at least 14 days before taking effect.
